Spiced Potatoes

5,6 Potatoes medium size(boiled)

2Tablespoon olive oil

11/2 Turmeric powder

1 Teaspoon cumin seeds

1/2 Teaspoon black mustard seeds

5,6 Curry leaves

1Teaspoon Kashmiri Chili Powder

1 Teaspoon Garam masala(Mons flavors spice blend)

1Teaspoon Lemon juice

Coriander leaves handful

Salt to taste

Spiced potatoes got to be one of the quickest dishes you can ever make. This dish is so aromatic, extremely flavorful and more over easy steps and effortless to make. This is such a versatile dish which can be served as a side dish or can be your mains as well Great when filled in pita breads or filled in wraps hot or cold. I love making these almost twice a week. Hope you all enjoy making this too.


Boil the potatoes in a large pot of cold salted water cook for 10 to 15minutes until tender, once done drain, peel and keep aside

In a pan on a medium heat add oil, once oil is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds

let them crackle for few seconds then add curry leaves.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder , add potatoes, salt to season give a good mix and cook further 2 to3 minutes

Cook until potatoes are golden brown and are slightly roasted over low medium heat

Once done, add garam masala, lemon juice combine and cook for another 2, 3 minutes

Taste and serve warm with coriander leaves on top


  • You can use raw potatoes but timing of cooking this recipe may vary
  • If you notice potatoes are sticking to the bottom of your pan, sprinkle some water and cover it with lid and keep it on low medium heat, it helps
  • You can use mustard oil instead olive oil
  • Mustard seeds , curry leaves, red Kashmiri chili can be easily bought from any Indian stores
  • If you want to skip curry leaves , mustard seeds you may
  • This recipe can be made with kumara, carrots and cauliflower
