Drain the jackfruit in a colander and rinse it under running water for a few seconds. Pat it dry with a paper towel or kitchen towel, ensuring you remove as much water as possible.
Use a fork or your hands to pull apart the jackfruit, resembling shredded pork or chicken.
Heat oil in a large pan or skillet over low to medium heat. Add minced ginger and sauté until it becomes fragrant.
Add the pulled jackfruit to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes until it develops some color. Then, add salt, turmeric powder, butter chicken spice blend, and mix well. Keep the flame low to avoid burning the spices.
If desired, you can add a bit more oil, butter, or ghee at this stage.
Once the mixture becomes fragrant, add tomato sauce and tamari sauce. Mix everything together and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes with the lid on.
Once the dish is done, you can use the prepared jackfruit mixture to make burgers or assemble it according to the provided image.
Remember to adjust the seasoning and spices according to your taste preferences. Enjoy your jackfruit butter chicken-style dish!

If  you’re making the recipe for 8-12 people, you’ll need to adjust the quantities accordingly. For the butter chicken spice blend, you can add 2 tablespoons for this larger batch size.
In terms of the sugar, tomato sauce, and tamari sauce, you can add them according to your taste preferences. Start with smaller amounts and adjust as needed. You can begin with 1-2 teaspoons of sugar, 1/2 to 1 cup of tomato sauce, and 2-3 tablespoons of tamari sauce. Taste the mixture and add more if desired.
You can keep this mixture in an airtight container in fridge for 3-4 days
After draining the jackfruit from the tin, make sure to thoroughly rinse it under running tap water. Squeeze out the water completely to remove any brine or canning liquid. Use a kitchen towel or paper towel to pat the jackfruit dry.
Jackfruit tins are commonly available at stores like BinInn, Pak’nSave, or any Indian grocery store. You can easily find them there.
This jackfruit mixture can be used for various dishes. In addition to burgers, you can use it as a filling for tacos or sandwiches if you don’t have burger buns.
I bought these  burger buns from Hamilton Farmers Market, freshly baked from Volare Breads.

Jacked up burger!

5stars for this dish, I have had a can of jackfruit in the cupboard for so long but never found a recipe I liked. This was a great big winner, I swapped beetroot dip for sliced beetroot but that’s all, tomorrow will be next level sauce and marinated potatoes….can’t wait.
